Oh, I was so mistaken . . .

There were far more than eight hexipuffs needed. Right now, I'm working on sets of particular colors to  finish up some sets of ten. Yeah, I'm getting a little tired of these but at least the end is in sight.

Outside of hexipuffs, I'm getting started on a Nordic Lights cowl using some lovely Ultra Alpaca.

I'm also working on some cute little items out of sock yarn leftovers for a contest at the Minnesota Knitters' Guild.

Outside of knitting, we were experimenting with a new summer drink - barley tea.

It's pretty simple - roasted barley (and roasted corn, too) steeped like tea,

and then drained and sweetened.

It doesn't have any caffeine but we can all do with less of that, right?

Hello!

On the way home this morning, I ran across this fellow.

My own fence was yarn bombed! With a cute little knitted lion!

I've left it in place for the time being.

My own knitting is getting larger and larger. The Hans sweater is too big carry around any more so I've taken to spreading out over the living room sofa and watching old episodes of Enterprise with Youngest Child. 

I'm working on the first series of yoke designs right now. 

Up close, the little rows of stitch markers are keeping track of all the decreases on the sleeves .

I'm not at all happy knitting sleeves one at a time any one. I've been spoiled by two-at-a-time sock knitting!

Tomorrow, I'll be spending the afternoon discussing knitting and eating goodies at the Minnesota Knitters' Guild's Spring Tea. If you're in town, come join us!

Our featured speaker. Angela Radzyuk from All for Love of Yarn will be demonstrating how she blends colors and fibers. This to be a hands on kind of deal - we will have drum carders and fleece samples on hand and with five drum carders, there won’t be long lines … more time for eating and knitting!

A lovely fall day . . .

Due to the "Extreme Pumpkin Shortage of 2010", these things are like gold this year. 

If I didn't know that the alleged "pumpkin shortage" referred to canned pumpkin - as a result of harvesting problems last year  - not fresh pumpkin, I'd have been tempted to stage a bump-n-run for some pumpkin.

But it did remind me of my Mr. Greenjeans sweater.

Fall seems just around the corner when I'm looking at it.

I don't think I ever named a mannequin before but this pose reminds me of Scarlet O'Hara. 

"I do declare, Mr. Greenjeans, you make my little ole' heart beat faster!"

"I may have to check my pulse . . . "

These cables look a little more Yellow Pepper than Pumpkin but they have been very fun.

Tomorrow is a day full of fun - the Saint Paul Classic Bike Tour in the morning and a Minnesota Knitters' Guild Cruise in the afternoon. I'm hoping to learn the secret handshake this year!

Three uniform shirts, a pair of sandals, a pair of tennis shoes, a gel bike seat and a really cute pink jacket. Ah, the choices one needs to make . . .

Finished at the last minute!

Tomorrow is the Minnesota Knitters' Guild's summer picnic. It's also the turn in date for the Little Lambs baby blankets collection. Never one to get something done early - I stayed up late last night and finished my Lydia's Lacy Blocks baby blanket. It's amazing what you can accomplish while watching The Fellowship of the Ring one more time!



Just a quick review - this was the Lydia's Lacy Blocks blanket pattern by Deborah Robson from Knit Along with Debbie Macomber: The Shop on Blossom Street. I used the yarn called for, Lion Brand Jiffy Solid, in Apple Green. I ended up with one skein left over - mostly because I changed the lace pattern from a six row to a five row repeat. (This was entirely unplanned!)

It felt so weird putting this in the wash and then the dryer. It was a little scruffy from being taken to the pool and it needed a wash. But, now I can go back to working on the Go with the Flow Socks.
