A groundhog walked into a kitchen . . .

leaned over and asked for a drink of water . . .

I actually can't think of a punchline for that joke. I was working toward the "A skeleton walks into a bar and orders a beer and a mop" joke but  - never mind. Youngest Child was a groundhog in his class play last week. I ran out of fun fur knitting his mitts - had to substitute a chenille yarn instead - but there was no way I was going to do a late night "fun fur" trip to the yarn store!

I've had some straight line knitting time with my Top Down Wrap Cardigan - I am really looking forward to getting to the sleeves!

I had one last bag of items from the Great Teen Closet and Drawer clean out. I was starting to feel a little sad - what could I pack up next?
Well, hurrah . . .
The 10th Annual Textile Center Garage Sale is coming up on
Saturday April 17, 2010. That means they will be accepting donations:

Thursday, April 15, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Friday, April 16, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

I feel a yarn stash explosion coming on!

Saint Paul under water

Saint Paul under water

I guess Mr. Daisy and I won't be biking there this weekend!

Have I got a deal for you!

Okay, some time last night, my email account went for a stroll without me. If you got something from me about a good deal on electronics but including a large number of misspellings, I apologize on behalf of my email account's good name.

The rest of my week was fairly quiet. I've been working on and off on the Neck Down Wrap Cardigan. Unfortunately, twice I've gotten off track and had to rip back.

I do like a nice increase row!

I spent a week one day working on a direct warp for a pair of dish towels.

In theory, this is supposed to be a quicker, easier way to warp your loom but they lied! The first few rows are spacer rows to get ready for the real weft. In this case, I'll be using alternating blue and yellow Dale of Norway Stork cotton yarn for both the warp and weft. I'm not a big fan of cotton yarn but this is very soft!

I spent a little time today with these fine fellows . . .
Youngest Daughter said, "Tribbles!" They are actually a felted pair of ears and a tail for a groundhog costume - Youngest Child has a class play next week.

Speaking of Youngest Child, he had a busy week - it was soapbox derby night! Third prize is great when you are seven!

That room cleaning I did with Youngest Daughter a couple of years ago? Very, very thorough! Lots of room in her tee shirt drawer now that the Saturday Seven is gone.

Putting out my hand and touching - chicken *

I like cooking. I like chicken.  I like to eat chicken I have cooked.

I don't like to touch chicken. Frozen, prepared chicken, that is. I can handle most other varieties. Live chickens are especially nice as well.

Today is a busy day where everyone comes home early and then leaves to go other places. So I decided to make this:

Crock pot cream cheese chicken from Stephanie over at A Year of Slow Cooking. That's her picture, by the way. Mine is still cooking.

It's a great recipe - easy to make and tasty. Not too colorful, though. Alas, we can't have everything.

Anyway, you plop all the seasonings and soup (mine is from scratch!) in there on top of your frozen chicken. I was trying a new brand of chicken (good for you, local, etc.) but the packaging was incredible!

Lots and lots of touching the chicken to get the package open and completely removed. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
I may have to go shower now.

* I was trying to spoof the famous poem "High Flight" by John Gillespie Magee, Jr. It may not have worked. You can read all about that poem over here.

Please, please - get well soon

Now I don't have my cold anymore, Youngest Daughter has collected it.

And that means I have to clean her bathroom, too. Darn. There was never a happier day (okay, maybe there are a few) than when I didn't have to clean the teenaged daughters' bathroom anymore.

Please, please get well soon!

Since we last met, I've been working on a new pair of Twilight Socks from 2-at-a-time-socks. I've been using this:

A skein of Pagewood Farm Yukon Sock Yarn in Prism. Very soft and pretty!

I also had a great trip out to Darn. Knit (Anyway) in Stillwater, MN.

I didn't get the Madelinetosh DK yarn I went out there for but I did get some

Dream in Color Classy in the "In Vino Veritas" colorway. I've jumped the queue and started another project with it: Knitting Pure & Simple's Neck Down Wrap Cardigan. It's been lovely so far!

And since I helped Youngest Daughter clean her closet really, really well last week -

Seven Saturday shirts went over to Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church's Huge Sale.
Coming up in May, you know!
Be there, be there . . .

Finishing up the weekend

I'm trying to get the colors right - this is close but the actual colors are quite deep.

The warp is Fleece Artist's Merino 2/6 in Caicos and the weft is Louet Gems Merino in Teal.

Fun to weave - I'll have to make some matching fingerless mitts.

And, just in case you thought I stopped collecting Saturday Sevens,

I love it when my daughters clean their closets!

Another week flying by

Between the crash of the end of the Ravelry Olympics and the pit of the cold I have now, things can only look better after this weekend.

My wrists were sore after finishing up all that knitting! Here are couple of better photos . . .

Mr. Daisy's Classic Socks.

Another glimpse of the toes - enormous, aren't they?

Mr. Daisy looking a bit skeptical . . .

The grey "Jet" Bag with its flower and beads  and, finally, a post-Ravelry Olympic project

another Two-Skein Scarf. This one is in blues and greys for Middle Daughter who joined a sorority with blue and and grey colors. I am  going to trim the fringe later today.

Obviously, all this knitting left no time for combing my hair!
I'll be spending more time on the weaving projects after this weekend's Weaving Workshop over at the Yarnery. Two full days of weavey goodness.
