Almost feels like Easter

Youngest Child had a particularly great day today, playing outside and helping Dad work on his "club house." Think tree house only minus the tree.
After dinner we played some raucous hands of Dutch Blitz and then went out to Konnie's Kones. Ah, bliss.
But for Youngest Child, coloring the Easter Eggs and putting out our Easter baskets was the best part.
He talked about which colors to dye the eggs, who got what basket and what color their Easter basket grass would be.
Somehow, we've lost two baskets so Mr. Daisy and I opted for bowls.
We talked about whether it was a real bunny or not (he voted for a real one!) and then, at bedtime, we read some stories about how using your imagination can  help you to see things in the real world

(The "Seven Year Old Wonder Book" - still a great set of stories. Ours is inscribed "To (Oldest Daughter) on her 7th birthday. Happy Reading! Love, Mom and Dad." She is 20 now and still loves reading. We read through this book with each of the girls and they each loved a different part of it.)

The best thing for me was coming downstairs and finding Mr. Daisy completely absorbed in making pies for tomorrow. He found as much joy in that as Youngest Child found in arranging the Easter baskets. Ah, bliss.

Today's Saturday Seven was from my own closet and the Youngest Child's as well. Two pairs of shoes that I liked but never wore because they hurt my feet. The mattress pad, pair of pajamas and three pairs of socks came from YC. It's amazing what we keep around sometimes.

Pleased to meet you, Spring!

This morning, Oldest Daughter, Mr. Daisy and I went biking on the Cannon Falls Trail. It was chilly but lovely and a fine introduction to spring.

By the time we stopped to take this picture, we were giddy with laughter over Oldest Daughter's attempt to take our photo. She can take a computer apart and put it together again but this thing called "centering" took several tries.

Easter Week started with Hot Cross Buns for the household. The recipe from the newspaper was wretched - poorly written and lumpy. So I doctored it up and came up with an edible product. As a former reporter, I should have known how easily a line or two of a recipe can get cut from an article.

The party continued with egg dyeing - using food dye this year.

I loved the results - jewel tone eggs.

With all the Daughters home for Easter break, finding seven items to give away was too easy. A skirt, five tee shirts and a polo shirt were practically tossed at me. Spring fever must have infected the Saturday Seven as well.

I'm still on that second sleeve of the Child's Aran Sweater. I took it to the park this afternoon but even sitting in the sun, it was a little chilly to be knitting.

Happy Easter to you all!

The Egg and I

I had a great time at Yarnover today and learned a lot about Bohus Stickning from Susanna Hansson. I feel exhausted despite just sitting in a chair all day. Outside of class, I won a book, met some bloggers and saw some lovely knitted goods. Just about a perfect weekend!

The colors are just lovely - really rich and deep. I am seriously thinking about one of these on my "to do" list.

After we worked on our wristlets, we got a chance to show them off and see how different needles gave different gauge.

This Saturday Seven was a simple bookcase purge. Two book club books, some gifts and a school book from Youngest Daughter - I need the room for other things. Bye!

My favorite thing I worked on this weekend - however - wasn't the wristlet but this . . .
